Forgiveness

I have heard it said that bitterness is like drinking from poison and expecting the other person to die....watch this clip.

Everyone has their stories of sadness and sorrow. Some more than others. Some of those decisions have shaped us. Maybe for the good. Maybe for the worse.

But the fact of the matter is that there are many times we forget Jesus in our lives. There are times when we neglect what He says and we do not follow Him.
We run from Him.
We question Him.
We get angry with Him.
We reject Him and His Word.
We despise Him.
We use Him for the good but curse Him for the bad.
We don't want anything to do with Him.

And yes, after all of that, God still loved us enough to send His Son to die for us. Jesus forgave the sin and shame we carry. Even when we neglect, curse, question, or run from Him. He still and always will have open arms to take us back.

He decided to forgive us, knowing our past, present, and future sins.

If Jesus can forgive us, why do we struggle to forgive others? Let Go. Let God take care of it. He knows what you are going through. Trust Him. No one else understands what and why you are going through this. He is the only one that can give you the strength to forgive. He is the only one that can give you the courage to trust Him.

Mark 11:25
And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.

Worry

I wonder why we worry about details in life? Do we think that if we worry that God will change it or that by worrying, something will happen faster or in a more convenient way? Bottom Line: God knows the whole future. He knows the when and what and how and where. Another Bottom Line: We know nothing. But we know the ONE who does. Let God lead...just follow.

Here are some scriptures to back that up.
Gen 43:23 "Relax. Don't worry about it," the household manager told them. "Your God, the God of your ancestors, must have put it there. We collected your money all right." Then he released Simeon and brought him out to them.
Gen 45:20 Don't worry about your belongings, for the best of all the land of Egypt is yours."
Rth 3:11 Now don't worry about a thing, my daughter. I will do what is necessary, for everyone in town knows you are an honorable woman.
1Sa 9:20 And don't worry about those donkeys that were lost three days ago, for they have been found. And I am here to tell you that you and your family are the focus of all Israel's hopes."
Psa 37:7 Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act. Don't worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.
Pro 12:25 Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up.
Jer 23:17 They keep saying to these rebels who despise my word, `Don't worry! The LORD says you will have peace!' And to those who stubbornly follow their own evil desires, they say, `No harm will come your way!'
Mat 6:25 "So I tell you, don't worry about everyday life--whether you have enough food, drink, and clothes. Doesn't life consist of more than food and clothing?
Mat 6:28 "And why worry about your clothes? Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don't work or make their clothing,
Mat 6:31 "So don't worry about having enough food or drink or clothing.
Mat 6:34 "So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today.
Mat 7:3 And why worry about a speck in your friend's eye when you have a log in your own?
Mat 10:19 When you are arrested, don't worry about what to say in your defense, because you will be given the right words at the right time.
Mar 13:11 But when you are arrested and stand trial, don't worry about what to say in your defense. Just say what God tells you to. Then it is not you who will be speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
Luk 6:41 "And why worry about a speck in your friend's eye when you have a log in your own?
Luk 12:11 "And when you are brought to trial in the synagogues and before rulers and authorities, don't worry about what to say in your defense,

God obviously knows us all too well. He knows it is in our habit to worry. Instead, we should TRUST. Trust means letting someone have control over something you want to have control over. Atleast that is what is spells out for me.

2Ch 14:11 Then Asa cried out to the LORD his God, "O LORD, no one but you can help the powerless against the mighty! Help us, O LORD our God, for we trust in you alone. It is in your name that we have come against this vast horde. O LORD, you are our God; do not let mere men prevail against you!"
Job 4:3 "In the past you have encouraged many a troubled soul to trust in God; you have supported those who were weak.
Psa 9:10 Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O LORD, have never abandoned anyone who searches for you.
Psa 10:14 But you do see the trouble and grief they cause. You take note of it and punish them. The helpless put their trust in you. You are the defender of orphans.
Psa 11:1 For the choir director: A psalm of David. I trust in the LORD for protection. So why do you say to me, "Fly to the mountains for safety!
Psa 13:5 But I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me.
Psa 22:5 You heard their cries for help and saved them. They put their trust in you and were never disappointed.

Isa 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, whose thoughts are fixed on you!
Isa 26:4 Trust in the LORD always, for the LORD GOD is the eternal Rock.
Zep 3:12 Those who are left will be the lowly and the humble, for it is they who trust in the name of the LORD.
Mar 5:36 But Jesus ignored their comments and said to Jairus, "Don't be afraid. Just trust me."
Jhn 14:1 "Don't be troubled. You trust God, now trust in me.
2Cr 3:4 We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ.
Eph 1:12 God's purpose was that we who were the first to trust in Christ should praise our glorious God.
Eph 3:17 And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love.
1Ti 6:17 Tell those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which will soon be gone. But their trust should be in the living God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.

Hbr 10:35 Do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord, no matter what happens. Remember the great reward it brings you!

Pick a favorite. Memorize it. Don't forget who You are and who HE is.

Follow your Heart?

In society today, you have all heard songs or people stating something like- you need to "listen to your heart", "follow your heart", if you "feel it" in your heart, it must be ok...

Scripture says the opposite.I think many times people think that their heart will guide and direct them to the "right" or "good" path. Even people that are Christians believe this is a good thing.

1. The Heart is Deceitful! Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?
You cannot trust what you "feel". Feelings were given by God and yes we do need to express our feelings at times, but they should not ever drive us. We don't make BIG decisions based on how we feel.
For example: If I want to lose weight, am I going to exercise when I "feel" like it? No-because I would end up being obese because I like to eat. I exercise because I KNOW it is good for me...

2. Guard your Heart! Proverbs 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart for it it the wellspring of life.
Wow-I can think of time after time that I have not guarded my heart in relationships. I have given a guy my heart before he has given me a hello. Girls, you feelin' me here? (No pun intended). God says that ABOVE ALL ELSE. Not, when I think I should. Not when I feel like it. God says above all else guard your heart.

3. Give your heart to God.
If you think a feeling is from God, then pray about it and give it to God! He knows that feeling if He is the one that put it there. Check with God. Ask: Is this from You God? Or is it not?

Deuteronomy 4:29 But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Deuteronomy 6:5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

1 Kings 8:17 "My father David had it in his heart to build a temple for the Name of the Lord, the God of Israel....He had it in his heart. God gave it to him. It wasn't a feeling. It was a God given vision.

Psalm 16:7 I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.

Psalm 26:2 Test me, O Lord, and try me, examine my heart and my mind;

Luke 10:27 He answered: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind';

Get it? :)

Trust me, I don't. I am learning this!
